Be For Yourself And Not For Others

Be for you and not for others

In the world we live in, we are continually assaulted by a movement of communicative overexposure and systematic praise of the ego.

All people want to have great theories about things, any act of logical goodness or altruism is reflected in social networks or in some internet portal, as if goodness and a civic attitude should be publicly recognized, as if an action such characteristics could not remain in the private sphere as the individual enjoyment of the person who has carried it out.

Many professionals in sports, politics and art are increasingly interested in what is known as “charisma”, “creator of followers” or simply, “people of public importance”.

A few centuries ago among the Greeks, the desire for immortality was considered as a heroic action that transcends time. But they were interested in the action itself, and the ego was not fed until its legitimate worth was recognized for having developed a worthy intellectual or strategic activity.

Today, everyone is interested in public recognition of their thoughts, actions or the most normal processes of human life (the most spectacular wedding, the most tender motherhood) and a showcase of friends and followers who, even having a week off would not be enough to talk to them about something private, how we really are, what causes us pain.

Happiness, they say it is not real if it is shared, but each time it is shared with more people and curiously we seem to have less life and to be away from the relationships of you to you, the enjoyment of a company and a good conversation in which not Heroic acts are continually cited, but a warm intimacy, with secrets of the heart, a delicious intimacy that you can only share with certain people.

It is not forced insignificance, it is simply that certain people reach a phase in their life where they are tired of impressing and being impressed, and they really want to share.

They choose to inform themselves, cultivate the small daily details that give them satisfaction, without anxiety or longing to be somewhere else and in another time, they want to train, they want to read, they want to see movies that are not recommended ad nauseam, they want to have their own customs full of finesse and firmness.

They are people that we do not usually meet frequently but when we are with them we do not need to share what we have lived, because the experience is so intense that there is no time or interest in showing it to others. The gallery does not seem attractive to them.

They only look at her more and more insightfully, distrusting all the halo of “perfection” that they give off. They like to listen, and think. The pleasure of insignificance is already made into literature with the great writer Milan Kundera, who has given us so many literary wonders.

Once again, this author calls for calm, lightness of being, even to deal with the most complex problems.

A recommended reading for those who feel overwhelmed by so much information, especially so much information without relevance in their own life.

Perhaps they are a few, but they will find calm and greater fun in that their life has something private, and that their person has not completely lost its essence in the face of so much insistence on contemplating the ego of others.

Keep some things for yourself, perhaps when that relationship you and you that you waited so long for will no longer have magic, or mystery, because you have already offered everything to others and you have been left with nothing to really share.
