Reading Can Be A Perfect Game For A Child

Reading can be a perfect game for a child

Bringing words to life through reading is a perfect game for our children. They are recreational afternoons that will accompany them throughout their lives and that they will always remember, as it is entertainment full of passion and fun.

Playing means building bridges, walking through countless paths, recreating times of princesses and medieval heroes, saving the world, believing yourself to be the captain of a pirate ship or the greatest villain in the region. Playing requires imagination and there is no better way to cultivate it than by sowing endless stories with words in our minds.

It is not easy to encourage the pleasure of reading in our children, because today society demands and offers opposite habits that are governed by comfort and speed.

But one of the genuine contributions that reading offers us to children and adults is finding oneself among the thoughts of the protagonist of a classic or the reflections of a fable. This is only achieved through reading.

It is not that playing video games or watching television are activities devoid of educational value for our children, but rather that reading offers them the possibility of living a thousand lives. And if a single life goes a long way, what won’t hundreds of them offer you?

Knowing how to read makes you free

Clearly, justifying our limitations makes us stick with them. Therefore, it is not fair that we do not give children the opportunity to fulfill their capacities, to develop their potential and to be filled with magic through tales and stories that allow them to dream.

Reading is a full member of our lives that demands a certain personal concern, but the cravings for knowledge need to be sown to be reaped . Reading is an activity through which contemplation, concentration, silence, isolation and exclusivity are worked.

We know from experience the importance of these skills in our development and in the performance that the adult world requires of us, so we have no excuse not to encourage our children to do so.

How to make the child enjoy reading

However, whether you enjoy reading depends on how you approach reading. Reading does not mean linking words to build a sentence, but rather that the child must achieve the ability to appropriate a text. Making a story or a passage part of yourself, choosing a book, using it for something, talking about the message, completing it and expanding it is what reading means.

We must be aware that the child can begin to achieve this from 6-7 years. Meanwhile, it is advisable that we prepare their paths as readers filling them with stories and meanings that in turn will help us not to lose the enthusiasm for the magic that a children’s book contains.

Hence the importance of familiarizing them with books, of making them experience the permanence of the written word, of offering them the multiple meanings of a word or the teachings of a story.

In addition, we have to take into account that a child does not digest any book, so we have to take him by the hand so that he learns to dream through words full of stories according to his age, his concerns and his abilities.

Reading is a game that we must share

Children should start listening to stories as soon as possible. Reading is a pleasure that requires being a habit, especially from childhood. If this passion has been awakened in childhood it has a much greater chance of consolidating in adulthood.

In short, just as we started our children in the games of dolls, ball or food, we must do it with reading. That is to say, to the same extent that you spend time giving their dolls injections or that you instruct them to pick up their toys, you should share reading moments with them.

Children are our great imitators because for them we are their greatest example, so sharing readings, moments and passions with the child will stimulate their interest in reading. He will do it in the same way as if we play soccer or dolls with them, also trying to capture our attention and enthusiasm.

With the game of reading, children will learn to collect moments and knowledge, stories and expectations, illusions and hopes … What is as complete as this?

Invite the children to read and make sure that nothing can prevent them, that they feel that reading is a necessity, that they feed their minds with letters and that they have at hand one more way to communicate with others but, above all, with themselves.
